The UCDD will receive a $400,000 EDA CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant.
Executive Director Mark Farley said a portion of the funds will be used to provide technical assistance to communities across the Upper Cumberland.
“A lot of our communities rely heavily on tourism, and we’re going to work on bringing some technical expertise about social media, marketing of the community, and of the tourist attraction,” Farley said.
Farley said some of the funds will go toward hiring a Covid Coordinator. This position will provide assistance to local governments and the business community how to navigate through the pandemic.
The UCDD additionally received a $5 million Revolving Loan grant. They already have a revolving loan program, but this will provide extra services, Farley said.
“This will allow us to go out and really put some money into the economy to help businesses make improvements and to grow and hopefully survive through this difficult downturn.”
