The Upper Cumberland Foster Closet is hosting its 2nd annual Chips for Charity fundraiser this Saturday.
The volunteer based non-profit provides clothing, hygiene items and more for children and families in foster care. Assistant Director Autumn Weitzel said the casino night will raise money for these efforts.
‘We have lots of casino tables there,” Weitzel said. “We have food trucks you can order from and that comes with your ticket. We have drinks, as well. We have a silent auction table. We have about six items to be put in silent auction.”
Even though it is a casino night, tables will not involve real gambling. When you arrive at the event, you will receive chips for your table. At the end of the night, your “winnings” will be exchanged for raffle tickets for prizes. Weitzel said by attending, you will also help the non-profit fund events for foster children.
“A skating event for the foster families to come to,” Weitzel said. “We’ll have pizza and drinks for them. It’s just a fun time. We try to do events like this as well where we just let the kids have fun. We do boy’s events, girl’s events, back to school and a Christmas event, as well.”
Formal attire is encouraged for the event. It will be held at the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport. Tables open at 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. Weitzel said individual tickets are available at several places and cost $70 and $130 for a couple.
“You can go to Wilson Bank and Trust that’s on Jefferson in Cookeville or you can go to our Facebook page UC Foster Closet,” Weitzel said. “You can go to either one of those.”
Businesses can sponsor exclusive tables as well hosting up to eight players. The event takes place at 750 Airport Road.
