Upper Cumberland Election Commissions reporting mostly average voter turnout for early voting this year.
Early voting ended Saturday.
Overton County Administrator of Elections Craig Story said they typically see about 50 percent of voters during early voting.
“Considering everything we had going on, it was the week of the fair, we had Pioneer Days during the first couple of days of it, and it’s rained almost every day,” Story said. “So we were happy with the turnout.”
Jackson County Administrator of Elections Drew McMillan said they typically see about 1,500 voters during early voting. He said that compared to the elections in 2014, and 2018, this year’s early voting saw a slightly lower turnout at about 1,430 voters ahead of Election Day.
“We’re expecting a bigger push,” McMillan said. “I’m hoping to have about 2,000 voters on Thursday and am hoping just to run a successful election.”
Polls open Thursday morning for Election Day.
