Two Injured in Thursday I-40 Crash Near Baxter

Two people suffered injuries following a two-car crash on I-40 near Baxter Thursday.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports 65-year-old Debra Huff of Livingston and 20-year-old Melissa Kelly of Hendersonville were both traveling westbound when the accident occurred.

The THP crash report states Huff slowed for traffic when Kelly swerved to miss rear-ending Huff.

Kelly’s vehicle struck the right rear of Huff’s, overturned, and came to a rest in the right lane on its side.

Huff was transported to Cookeville Regional Medical Center by a relative, while Kelly was transported by Putnam County EMS. The extent of their injuries and current conditions are currently unknown.

Kelly was cited with failure to exercise due care. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts when the accident occurred.
