Two Arrested Following High-Speed Chase In Monterey

Monterey Police arrested two wanted individuals following a high-speed chase Tuesday night.

The incident began when Officer Andrew Phillips attempted to stop a Nissan Sentra for speeding on Interstate 40. A records check of the license plate showed a hit for a male wanted by the US Marshals Service for weapons possession.

Officer Phillips engaged in a pursuit with speeds reaching in excess of 120 mph. A statement from the police department said the driver lost control and crashed at the 294 westbound mile marker.

Officers identified the driver as Amanda Beeler, who faces charges of evading arrest, reckless endangerment, possession of meth, and driving without a license. She also had active warrants from the U.S. Marshals for weapons possession.

Officers arrested a passenger identified as Michael Ayers for active warrants.

Both Ayers and Beeler received treatment at Cookeville Regional Medical Center following the crash.
