In the wake of Tuesday morning’s storm, lines of communication became very important. As of Friday afternoon, the Twin Lakes Telephone Cooperative is close to restoring all of its main lines for its customers.
According to Jonathon West from Twin Lakes, the efforts that began soon after the tornado passed are paying off.
“We’ve made a tremendous ammount of progress,” West said. “The team’s been very diligent, and it looks like if everything continues to progress as it has been for the last few hours, we should have all of our major lines replaced today (Friday).”
West said that although the work has been emotionally difficult at times, the teams have pressed on to continue the work.
“It’s devestating, but we are doing our part to get the network back online as soon as possible,” West said. “We know people and businesses need to communicate with their customers, and, of course, families need to communicate with their family members.”
According to West, the work now will shift to individual customers as they return to the affected area.
“In the days to come, we’ll begin connecting the businesses that don’t have power or are not really ready to get connected just yet,” West said. “So, we’ll be making those additional one-off connections from our main trunk lines to various homes and businesses that are not really in a position right now to even need a connection.”
West said that Twin Lakes will continue to be there for their customers for whatever they need as the cleanup continues.
