Tennessee Technological University has announced a total of over $334,000 raised during the I Heart Tech Students campaign.
Director of the Tennessee Tech Crawford Alumni Center Brandon Boyd said the donors decided how Tennessee Tech will spend the funding.
“With Tech, we always honor the donor’s wishes so wherever the donor designates the gift that is the fund the gift will go to,” Boyd said. “So on the day of giving and through the I Heart Tech Students faculty and staff giving campaign, both components of the same campaign, we highlighted three funds that directly impacted our students. So that’s where a lot of the focus went to.”
Boyd said the campaign highlighted a new microgrant fund, the campus food pantry, and the new Eagle Wing Student Veterans Center.
The microgrant fund received $18,000 to help students in the time of need.
Boyd said the fundraising will help students and staff alike.
“Fifty-three percent of universities who host a day of giving don’t raise $100,000. We landed in a nice place. The Day of Giving alone raised a total of $129,000.”
Boyd said the campaign started on February 14 and ended on March 28. The Day of Giving took place on March 27.
‘Truthfully it wasn’t a twenty-four-hour span. We selected 1,915 minutes out of respect for our founding year, 1915,” Boyd said. “So that was 32 hour period of time where a significant amount of Tech supporters came out to support Tech.”
In total, 748 donors gave 2,277 gifts to the I Heart Tech Students campaign.
