Truck Runs Into Gas Pump; Starts Fire In Sparta Saturday

A stolen truck plowed into a gas pump at a Sparta station late Saturday afternoon causing an explosion and fire.

Emergency officials confirmed the incident at the Peacock Gas Station on Bockman Way near the Sparta post office.

The canopy covering the gas pumps collapsed. According to a bystander, heavy black smoke could be seen over the area. Several fires erupted around the station.

The truck was allegedly stolen from a Bon Air home.
