Crews have installed new traffic lights at the Interstate-40 and Highway 111 interchange in Cookeville.
TDOT Spokeswoman Jennifer Flynn said the traffic lights should be functioning as flashing red and yellow by next Friday.
Flynn said the lights must be flashing for seven consecutive days before being turned on for normal signal operations. The signals should be fully operational by June 14.
Crews began milling and paving along Highway 111 Thursday night with hopes of completing that phase of the project next week.
The $920,000 project began in February.
