Thousands of Volunteer Energy Cooperative customers lost power after a transformer tripped at the Crossville substation Saturday.
VEC crews have begun the process of re-routing circuits to other supplies in an effort to restore power. A statement from VEC said the work could take 3 to 4 hours to complete.
The VEC outage map shows a total of 19,669 customers without power. That number hit the 30,000 mark when power first went out at 1.p.m.
The community complex will open at 5:30 p.m. for anyone needimg power, according to the Crossville-Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency.
