The Thomas House Hotel, a haunted getaway in Red Boiling Springs that has received national notoriety for paranormal activity.
Each weekend this October, Ghost Hunt Weekends will be on location doing overnight stays. President Chad Morin said the reputation came from over 125 years of murders, fires and unexplained deaths.
“The hotel is reported to be haunted by the previous owner of the hotel,” Morin said. “Where we would see full body apparitions stand and whistle, knocks, we’ve seen doors open and there’s also a little child ghost there by the name of Sarah and another by the name of Billy.”
Morin said the hotel was built in the 1880’s as a mineral spring resort. Morin said the popularity to ghost hunt at the location came later in 1990’s. Morin said the location has created many ghost stories to tell.
“One for Halloween we were all in the dining room, and we were trying to make contact with the spirits of the children,” Morin said. “We heard some knocking. We heard some noise going on. We weren’t sure what it was, and we were asking them to say something loud to us. We caught it on recording and you hear a kid say trick-or-treat.”
The original hotel was named the Cloyd Hotel, but it was completely leveled by a fire in 1924. The red brick Thomas House Hotel known today was built soon after.
