This Week Overton Co. Will Consider Next Fiscal Year’s Budget

This week in the Upper Cumberland residents of Overton County will have the opportunity to address budget concerns through a public hearing.

The proposed budget has revenues estimated at $10.6 million and expenditures at $13.5 million. Persons interested in addressing the commission must notify the County Executives Office beforehand.

Comments begin Monday at 4:30 in the courtroom of the Overton County Courthouse. Immediately following at 5:00, the Commission will start its monthly business.

Members will consider approving the operating budget for the departments of the county. Work on the Ambulance Service building might come as well with the commission considering a contract for a new addition.

The Livingston Mayor and Board of Aldermen will also be busy Monday. A work session will occur at 5:00 p.m. focusing on the next fiscal year budget.

The Jackson County Commission meets Monday, as well, at 7:00 p.m. at the county courthouse.

On Tuesday at 5:00 p.m., Livingston’s Town Hall will be open for property owners to discuss the next step in the Hazard Mitigation process. TEMA representatives will join via ZOOM to discuss funding that allows the city to purchase property with a high risk of flooding from citizens.

The same night Algood at 5:00 p.m. will also hold an open town hall meeting. The public is invited to discuss traffic and safety concerns in the city limits with officials.
