Byrdstown residents in need of home repairs can apply for THDA funding starting Tuesday.
Mayor Sam Gibson said those interested can attend a meeting at 1:00 p.m. across from city hall.
”For anyone that would like to come out, and sit down and listen to all the requirements that you’ll need to know before filling out your application,” Gibson said. “And, before picking up an application.”
Gibson said the $500,00 THDA grant funding allowing the work was awarded last year. Gibson said the funding is primary focused on elderly and low income residents.
“The state will rank the applications and then starting at one and going down in numerical order,” Gibson said. “They’ll go into their houses and evaluate. There will be $500,000 to spend. It could do 50 houses, it could do 10. It just depends on how much work will need to be done on each one.”
Gibson said repairs can range from replacing windows to rebuilding full houses. According to Gibson, this is the first time in many years since Byrdstown has used a grant like this.
