Tennessee Tech Athletic Director Mark Wilson fired head baseball coach Justin Holmes on Wednesday.
Wilson said he relieved Holmes of his duties because of conduct inconsistent with the expectations and standards for all university head coaches.
Assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Mitchell Wright will serve as acting head coach. Wilson said a national search for the next head coach begins immediately.
Holmes just finished his first season at the helm, finishing with 22 wins and 32 losses. He also spent four years at Tech as an assistant under Matt Bragga, helping guide the team to its first NCAA Super Regional appearance.
