Tennessee Tech to Begin Renovation Projects

Tennessee Tech will begin various renovation projects this summer, including roof renovations and a Library excavation.

Dewayne Wright is Senior Director of public relations at Tennessee Tech.

Wright said the roof replacement project will go out to bid later this summer.

“So the roof replacement project, that has not gone out to bid yet. So we don’t have a definite starting date,” Wright said. “Our expectation is the project will start late summer.”

Tennessee Tech will replace and repair roofs on the Hooper Eblen Center, Hyder-Burks, Bruner Hall, Brown Hall, and Clement Hall.

Wright said the school will also start on the Volpe Library excavation.

“So the way it is currently constructed, there is part of the building in the basement that would be underground,” Wright said. “And that was never finished out when the building was constructed. So it is going in, it is removing the dirt that is in that area, which will then give the library more space.”

The new projects have been added to the list of other building projects at Tennessee Tech.

Tennessee Tech will finish construction on the Roaden University Center multipurpose room later this month, Wright said.

Tech has invested 180 million dollars in construction and renovation around campus.

“It is a good example of how Tennessee Tech is growing to fit our students’ needs,” Wright said.
