A Tennessee Tech student undergoing testing for potential coronavirus has tested negative for the virus.
Cookeville Regional Medical Center received confirmation from the Tennessee Department of Health Friday evening.
“Collaboration between TTU, local health providers and leadership was tremendous,” a CRMC statement said. “Thank you for your cooperation and we are happy to report the test was negative.”
TTU President Phil Oldham said he was happy to hear that the student is on the road to recovery.
“The cooperation and communication with local health providers and leaders was amazing,” Oldham said. “I appreciate how Tech’s Health Services personnel were prepared to take the right actions.”
The student visited health officials Thursday with mild symptoms of the Novel Coronavirus. University officials said the students recent travel history met the criteria for testing for possible infection with the virus.
