A new wireless emergency alert (WEA) for thunderstorms has arrived from the National Weather Service. The alert will add a damage threat tag to severe thunderstorm warnings. EF-0 Tornado Hits Putnam County Friday Afternoon

The National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down in Putnam County Friday afternoon. Meteorologist Brittney Whitehead said the decision came after coordination with Putnam County EMA. The 75-yard wide tornado struck around 1:30pm Friday. All Three Smithville Tornado Sirens Activate During Tuesday’s Warning

All three tornado sirens in Smithville passed their test during Tuesday’s tornado warning. EMA Director Charlie Parker said the sirens are activated automatically when they are within the National Weather Service’s polygon area. The National Weather Service said Thursday’s tornado that impacted the Pleasant Hill Community included max winds of 85mph. Cumberland River Water Levels Expected To Recede Quickly

There is a positive outlook on river water levels in Jackson County following the weekend’s flooding.
