Cookeville Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning on Bill Smith Road. According to the Cookeville Police Department, at approximately 1:00 a.m. officers responded to a complaint of gunshots being fired. A deceased male was found near the Woodland Heights neighborhood in Cookeville Wednesday. According to the Cookeville Police Department, the body was discovered in a wooded area near the water north of the community. Detectives are working to identify the body. The investigation ongoing.
