I-40 Accident Slows Traffic; Man Airlifted

A Pegram man airlifted to Nashville’s Skyline Medical Center Thursday afternoon after his vehicle left Interstate 40 and struck a tree. The accident happened just before 2pm near mile marker 274 in Putnam County. Tractor Trailer Rear Ends Car On I-40

Rain contributed to a Sunday afternoon accident on Interstate 40 in Cumberland County. A Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 44-year-old Ramon Luis Rodriguez Velazquez of Dallas, Texas rear-ended a vehicle driven by 50-year-old Scott Ray Manley of Metropolis, Illinois. A California man lost control of the tractor trailer he was driving Saturday night causing the vehicle to flip near mile marker 270. 79-year-old Jaswant Sandha was travelling westbound in the right lane and he negotiated a right curve and lost control. An overturned tractor trailer has a portion of Putnam County’s Interstate 40 closed Saturday night. The westbound lanes of the interstate are completely closed as of 10:30pm following the rollover. Expect Delays This Weekend Around Exit 317

Expect delays again this weekend around Crossville exit 317 on Interstate 40 as resurfacing and bridge repair work takes place.
