The TBI investigating an officer involved shooting along Interstate 40 in Crossville Friday night. Westbound lanes of I-40 near mile marker 311 were closed for a couple of hours. An accident involving multiple tractor trailers near exit 299 on I-40 resulted in two injuries and one charge of failing to exercise due care Thursday. Cookeville City Council will consider a proposal for geotechnical exploration land off of Highway 111 and I-40. The city of Cookeville has begun installing signs that discourage motorists from giving cash to panhandlers. Resurfacing will begin this week on I-40 through Cookeville. Paving from mile marker 281 to 287 beginning Sunday. The work will require temporary lane closures from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday. A Florida man was killed after running onto I-40, being struck by a Freightliner truck on Thursday. The deceased is 30 year-old Samuel Ray of Kinard, Florida. T-DOT expects to have the Highway 56 Overpass at the Smithville exit open on Tuesday.
