Cookeville Woman Dies In Head-On Collision

A 53-year-old Cookeville woman died in a head-on collision Tuesday between Gainesboro and Baxter. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports Penny Maxwell died when the vehicle she was driving was struck by a vehicle driven by 32-year-old Tiffany Gaw of Baxter. Interim Jackson County Clerk Brandon Stafford will continue to serve as clerk. Stafford received 1,114 votes beating Mary Crowder with 748 votes and Emily Mahaney Trisdale with 481. Gainesboro Passes Water and Sewer Increase

The Town of Gainesboro passed the first reading of a two percent increase of the town’s Water and Sewer rate Thursday night.
