Overton County will move forward under new leadership with its new County Executive, Steven Barlow.
Barlow defeated incumbent Ben Danner, getting some 52.2 percent of the votes compared to Danners’ 47.7. percent. Barlow said that he’s ready to get back to business as he takes over the helm.
“It’s all about the people and what the people of Overton County need,” Barlow said. “That’s what I want to stand for is the people and represent the Lord the best that I can.”
Barlow said the most important thing is to work together as a team and bring the community together. He said he hopes to continue doing what’s best for the people.
“To get the sales revenue up, to create more tax revenue here so we don’t have to raise taxes or anything like that I don’t want to raise taxes,” Barlow said. “So we need to try to get the sales revenue up, try to get the people to buy more in the county to have more money in the county to have things that we would like, things that we need.”
Barlow said in looking at things Overton Countians need, he’s already started to lay the groundwork.
Overton County Executive Incumbent Ben Danner said that serving as county executive has been the best job he’s had in his life.
“I appreciate everybody in the county, I appreciate the people that supported me,” “You know you can’t ever please everybody, we’re in a crazy time in the world right now, but the county is in better shape than when I took over eight years ago. I congratulate Steven, and I wish him the best.”
1958 was the last time a County Executive in Overton County earned a third time.
