Steve Robbins Named Upperman High’s New Principal

Upperman High School has officially found its new principal in Steve Robbins.

Robbins said that he has been in school administration since 1995 in various places. He spent the last five years at Cookeville High School serving as the Athletic Director and Assistant Principal.

“And with the opportunity of Mr. Stepp leaving and going into Cumberland County to be the director of schools, just thought it was time to get back,” Stepp said. “I’ve been the principal in other places before I came to Putnam County and I’ve really enjoyed my time here in Putnam County. I just felt like it was a move for my family and me to make at this time.”

Robbins said that he thinks one of the challenges of being a new principal is getting familiar with the community. He said that he is already at work preparing for the next school year with the Upperman community.

Robbins said that his approach to leadership is one of leading by example. He said he believes it’s more effective than simply making rules.
