State Legislature Passes $56.2B Budget Including $750M For Road Improvements

The State Legislature has its new fiscal year budget….a 56.2 billion plan passed by lawmakers including Representative Ryan Williams.

Among the benefits to the Upper Cumberland, increased money for road improvements.

“Set aside for our region $750 million for new road projects out of the $3 billion total,” Williams said. “And Putnam County’s state street aid fund will receive an additional $3.3. million out of the $300 million investment we made in the state street aid, which is a pretty sizeable investment.”

The plan also includes $140 million for School Resource Officers across the state. Governor Bill Lee’s proposed investment in T-CAT will also begin, with a $988 million capital improvements allocation.

The legislature also approved $1.1 billion for the new state education formula.
