State Gives $1 Million For Industrial Growth

The state has funded $1 million for constructing water lines at the Plateau Business Park.
The industrial site serves Cumberland, Morgan, and Roane counties. Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster says he’s excited for this opportunity to help the community.
“Cumberland County is a regional hub for three distressed counties that border us,” Mayor Foster said. “These funds will be used for a water line extension to the industrial park that should help make the park more attractive for industry, and move us closer toward economic growth for the entire region.”
The money comes from the state’s Site Development Grant program. Govenor Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Commissioner Bob Rolfe said 10 communities will collectively receive more than $3.8 million in funding.
“Attracting industry to Tennessee’s rural communities continues to be one of  TNECD’s main goals. With the assistance of the Site Development Grants, the 10 recipients will be able to better prepare their sites and increase their chances of recruiting new businesses to their communities,” Commissioner Rolfe said.
The grants help communities achieve Select Tennessee site certification and prepare industrial sites for economic development projects.
“The Site Development Grant program is part of the Rural Economic Opportunity Act, which focuses on promoting economic growth in rural Tennessee. I look forward to seeing what success the future holds for these communities with the assistance of these grants,” Governor Lee said.
The TNECD has awarded 90 Site Development Grants across Tennessee.
