State Denies DeKalb County Block Grant For Fire Truck

DeKalb County has failed to receive state funding for purchasing a new tanker truck.

Mayor Tim Stribling said the county’s Community Development Block Grant application did not score high enough.

The county applied for the $315,000 grant earlier this year. Fire Chief Donny Green said the county has only one tanker and needs another way to get water to fire scenes in the more rural parts of the county.

Stribling said the county can re-apply for the grant next year.
