State Building Commission To Consider Fall Creek Falls Inn Funding

The Tennessee State Building Commission will consider awarding additional funding to Fall Creek Falls State Park for the construction of its new inn.

That according to Department of General Services Communication Director, David Roberson.

“The demolition of the old inn was completed in December and, with the state building commission’s approval of this funding,” Roberson said, “then we should be able to release the contractor to start the construction of the new inn pretty quickly thereafter.”

The original price tag to construct the new inn was approximately $29 million. However, construction estimates came back higher than expected at $40 million, ultimately delaying the project.

State lawmakers allocated an additional $11 million in their budget plan to cover the additional expenses.

“The state building commission is in charge of all the state’s construction projects,” Roberson said. “Although the money was approved in the budget for this year, it still requires action by the state building commission to authorize construction to begin on the project.”

The state building commission will meet July 11 to consider the park’s proposal.
