Standing Stone Cabins To Get Facelift

10 historic cabins will be renovated at Standing Stone State Park later this year.

The State Department of General Services awarded J&S Construction a 300-day contract for the project.

The Cookeville-based company will be responsible for addressing deteriorating building materials inside the units. A press release said existing flooring will be removed from kitchens and bathrooms. New electrical services and panels will also be installed.

Each cabin will also receive new paint, finishes and refinished wood flooring.

J&S Construction will work alongside Knoxville-based Sparkman and Associates to follow the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.

The initial press release indicated that work will begin in August.
