Sparta Public Works Getting New Fuel Distribution System

The Sparta Public Works Department will soon have a new fuel distribution system.

Mayor Jeff Young said the city will move forward with installing a more modern fueling system.

“We voted to replace our old existing fuel distribution system because it was probably about 30-years old,” Young said. “The new system will have a credit card system where each employee will have a card number. That way the fuel is documented to which city vehicle it goes to.”

The Sparta Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved the project during last week’s meeting. Young said the installation process will get underway in the near future.

“I would imagine it will take the biggest part of a week to get that new system in,” Young said.

The new fuel distribution system will cost the city $22,996.
