Smithville Man Facing Charges For Hiding Juvenile Runaway

A Smithville man is facing charges in Putnam County for allegedly harboring or hiding a 17-year-old Putnam County runaway girl.

19-year-old Devon W. Yokeum was visited at his residence at 274 Bluebird Trail by DeKalb Sheriff Patrick Ray last Saturday while searching for a runaway juvenile. After receiving no answer at the residence, law enforcement was able to track both Yokeum’s phone and the runaway juvenile’s phone in the same area as the residence.

The Assistant District Attorney General advised deputies they had circumstances to enter the residence. Upon entry, Yokeum came down the stairs and was placed under arrest. The Chief Deputy and the Putnam County officer went upstairs and found the juvenile hiding inside a mattress.

Yokeum is being held under a $4,500 bond.
