Smithville Man Cited After Collision With WCSO Deputy

Authorities have cited a Smithville man following a Saturday collision with a White County deputy.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred when 51-year-old James Youngblood was traveling west and 43-year-old deputy Mark Evans east on Highway 70.

The report states Youngblood’s 2010 Toyota Tacoma crossed the center lane and struck the left front of Evans’ 2018 Ford Explorer patrol vehicle and swiped down the left side.

Youngblood’s vehicle came to a rest in the westbound lane a few hundred feet from the point of collision. Evans’ vehicle ran off the right side of the road, up an embankment, and came to a stop in the eastbound lane.

The report states Youngblood was cited for failing to exercise due care. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash. The report lists both drivers as being “possibly” injured but neither were transported for medical treatment.
