Smith County Band To Perform At Daytona 500

The Smith County High School Marching Band will be performing at the 52nd NASCAR Daytona 500.

The Daytona 500, regarded as the most important event on the NASCAR circuit, is a 500-mile-long motor race held annually at Daytona International
Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Smith County students will have the once in a lifetime experience of marching on the Daytona 500 track, visiting pit road and performing with
groups from across the United States during the pre-race show.

“This is a great experience for students,” Smith County High School Director of Bands Davey Edmaiston said. “Most of the students have never been out of state, and to have the opportunity to travel all the way to Florida is really special.”

Band members are currently selling Butter Braid to help fund the trip, which
will cost an estimated $20,000 ($200 per student).

Each student’s goal is to sell 30 items in order to attend the trip for free. You can purchase items online at SCHSTODAYTONA500.COM
