Small Business Saturday Helps Support Local Economy And Community

This weekend makes a good time to kick off holiday shopping not only with Black Friday, but with Small Business Saturday.

That’s according to Melanie Graham, the Office Manager of the Crossville-Cumberland County Chamber of Commerce. Graham said that the idea behind Small Business Saturday is to drive more people to shop locally.

“We have so many energetic and talented small businesses in our community,” Graham said. “We want them to thrive, and the chamber knows that it’s up to us to promote these small businesses.”

Graham said the chamber has a duty to promote not only small businesses but also positive growth. She said many times after tourists visit, they decide to move to the area for various reasons.

Graham said Shop Small Business is a great way to highlight everything Cumberland County has to offer to continue enticing more of that positive growth.

“And to promote our small businesses, the chamber reached out and offered to buy a gift card from the first 10 businesses that responded to my email and those will be given out at the end of the day,” Graham said.  “And we will also be sharing and tagging those businesses and recognizing them on Facebook, as well as the other chamber members who have Shop Small events.”
