Six Apply For 15th Judicial District Circuit Court Vacancy

Six people have applied for the circuit court judge vacancy in the 15th Judicial District.

The vacancy created after Judge John D. Wootten, Jr. announced his retirement earlier this year. The 15th District covers Jackson, Macon, Smith, Trousdale, and Wilson counties.

Applicants include Jack Bellar, Michael Collins, Javin Cripps, Robert Hibbett, Shawn McBrien, and Jonathan H. Wardle.

Trial Court Vacancy Commissioners will interview the applicants at a time and location to be announced. The meeting will include a public hearing, during which anyone may express their opinions in opposition to the applicants. The commission will forward three finalist to Governor Bill Lee for his consideration.

Wootten has served as circuit court judge since 1998. His retirement becomes effective January 1, 2020.
