Sherrill Appointed To Vacant Cumberland Commission Seat

The Cumberland County Commission appointed Joseph L. Sherrill to fill the vacant 6th District seat Monday.

The position became vacant after the death of Michael Speich last month. Authorities found Speich dead four days after his indictment for charges of sexual battery by an authority figure and providing alcohol to a minor.

14 commissioners voted for Sherrill to fill the position, while three commissioners voted for Clifford Seger.

Sherrill will serve as 6th District Commissioner until the 2020 election.
