Sheriff Farris To Work On Drug Issues With Border Patrol And Sen Hagerty

Senator Bill Hagerty has invited Putnam County Sheriff Eddie Farris to join an expedition to the US Mexico border.

Farris said the purpose to see first hand what issues the country faces when it comes to drug trafficking.

“It’s going to be sometime toward the end of March or first of April,” Farris said. “I look forward to that trip, and certainly hope we can work with those folks down there and come up with some ideas that we can bring back and impact there and Putnam County to slow some of that stuff down.”

Farris said he will join seven or eight other Tennessee Sheriffs on the trip. Farris said he will work alongside border patrol and local law enforcement on drug flow to Tennessee.

“The drugs are just flowing so bad right now across the boarder. We just can’t stop it,” Farris said. “It seems like law enforcement is having a tough time of having any type of impact.”

Farris said the final details of the trip have yet to be shared. Farris was invited while attended the National Sheriff’s Association Conference in Washington DC earlier this month.
