Several Widespread Outages Across UC, Most Roads Passable

Caney Fork Electric Cooperative has widespread outages in four Upper Cumberland counties. While an exact number was not shared, the power company reported several outages throughout each county due to heavy snow and fallen tree limbs. Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation also reporting widespread outages in the Gainesboro and Cookeville areas.

Volunteer Energy Cooperative is working on a handful of outages in the northern counties of the region. The power company reporting 57 outages in Fentress County and only seven in Pickett County.

Cookeville Electric Department reporting that after some outages in the middle of the night, it currently has power on for all customers. Sparta Electric had some 200 homes without power due to the snowfall but all have been restored as of this morning.

No power outages are being reported out of Monterey. Street Supervisor Bobby Farley said main roads are clear with some slick spots on secondary roads.

Jackson County EMA reporting several outages. Director Keith Bean said that the only road currently closed is Campbell Hill Lane due to previous rain events.

Overton County Highway Department reporting roads are opened. Administrative Director Darwin Clark said that most passable with some slush, and advises drivers to be cautious.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office is asking all drivers to be cautious on side roads or back roads that have the potential to be covered or slick.
