A resurfacing project has begun on Interstate 40 in Eastern Putnam County.
Rogers Group began repairing the westbound lanes this week from Falling Water River to the ramp of Highway 70 North in Monterey.
TDOT spokeswoman Jennifer Flynn said drivers should use caution and be alert to all construction signage.
“We just want people to pay attention and don’t text and drive,” Flynn said. “Just be patient when you see a work crew out working. Just move over when you see them on the side of the road and just be careful. We want them to be able to get back to their families as well.”
Flynn said drivers can expect nightly lane closures to occur between Monday and Thursday beginning at 7 p.m. Lane closures will end by 6 a.m. each day.
The estimated project competition date is August.
