A monetary donation fund has been established for people affected by Tuesday morning’s storms.
The Cookeville/Putnam County Tornado Relief Fund was established at the Bank of Putnam County on Wednesday.
According to Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton multiple ways are available to donate to the fund.
“This is currently set up at the Bank of Putnam County,” Shelton said. “They have nineteen branch locations in Middle Tennessee. You can make a donation direct to there. or we will have a Venmo link live on our social media sites so you can get the word around.”
Shelton said that one hundred percent of the funds collected will go straight to people affected by the storms.
“I want to make that clear, not one penny of this will be used for anything other than the victim use so that they can pay bills, funeral expenses, whatever is needed for them, that’s where the money will go.”
Shelton also said that the relief effort has plenty of supplies, and even though more made be needed later, it is monetary donations that is currently needed.
“Right now the best way you can help, if you want to do that, is have a fund raiser or have whatever and donate it to this fund because that money will be distributed evenly and directly to all the victims,” Shelton said.
In addition donating directly to the Bank of Putnam County, a Venmo link will be live on the mayor’s social media page.
