Putnam County is having issues with residents not answering phone calls concerning their COVID vaccinations.
Mayor Randy Porter said anybody on the vaccine waiting list should be on the look out for a call from (931)-646-INFO.
“We want to get the message out to everyone,” Porter said. “I know you may think that it is a spam or a marketing company calling, but it’s not. And we want to make sure that everyone answers the phone or responds to the text or email that we are sending out to everyone.”
Porter said the county has been receiving larger shipments of vaccines. Porter said this is allowing the county health department to quickly move through the waiting list.
“They have vaccinated over 10,000 so far since we’ve started,” Porter said. “And continue today and will continue next week to giving first doses. We are trying to work through the 70 years and older group, and then once that happens, move to the next group.”
People 70 years or older can register for a COVID vaccine by going to the Putnam County Website or calling during normal business hours at the same number mentioned.
“Our health department is doing a great job,” Porter said. “Very dedicated people out there with law enforcement, National Guard, EMA ,EMS and everyone working together. We want everyone that wants the shot to be able to get it and that is the goal. Get as many people vaccinated as we can.”
