Putnam Schools Seeking School Age Care Program Workers

Putnam County Schools seeking employees for the School Age Care program.

Capshaw Site Director Ashlee Vaughn said the program offers child care and activities both before and after school. She said it provides a fun, safe place for children to go while parents work.

“It is a very rewarding job, you come in and you light up the kids’ faces and you form that bond,” Vaughn said. “And it’s just so fun to see them grow each year if you stay on each year, from the beginning of the school year.”

Currently, the school system is looking to hire about 20 workers across all schools. Vaughn said applicants must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

“We are looking for energetic, happy, positive people that are reliable, dependent, hardworking, to come and work for us,” Vaughn said.

Vaughn said workers will help set up in the mornings and afternoons, prepare snacks and games, and help kids with homework if needed.

“We start picking up our smaller children at 2:45, and then at 3:00 most of our schools release the rest of our kids to us,” Vaughn said. “We’ll be in the cafeteria, maybe a gym, we’ll check them all in, have snack. From snack, we do centers so board games, legos, we can rotate to our playground, we have gym access in the afternoons so we’ll play organized gym games, and then in the afternoon we’ll come back together and do centers until the parents come to pick them up.”
