Putnam County Woman Sues Algood After Collision

The City of Algood faces a $300,000 lawsuit concerning damages following a collision with a city worker.

Putnam County resident Kimberly Pedigo formally filed the lawsuit on May 6.

The complaint lists the City of Algood and city worker Alonzo Alvarez as defendants.  The collision took place on Burgess Falls Road when Alvarez rear-ended Pedigo.

The public complaint indicates that Alvarez was driving a large Ford truck owned by the city. Pedigo claims that Alvarez failed to exercise due care in the operation of the City of Algood truck which resulted in the accident.

The lawsuit also states that Pedigo sustained a personal injury, specifically in medical treatment and loss of enjoyment of life in the future.

According to City Manager Keith Morrison, Alvarez is still an employee of the City of Algood.

Algood per Tennessee Law is liable for the conduct of Alveraz, as well as other employees.

City officials declined further comment on the lawsuit until City Attorney Daniel Rader could be present.
