Putnam Closes Fiscal Year With A New Record For Building Permits

Putnam County set an all-time building permit record for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

The county had 436 permits for $89.4 million. 245 of those permits were for new single family homes. The 2020-2021 Fiscal Year had 382 permits for $61 million with 243 of those being new homes.

Mayor Randy Porter released the numbers Tuesday as the final June numbers were collected. June statistics showed 51 permits for $15.6 million with 28 new homes.

Porter said a large commercial permit for the Cookeville Water Plant addition at Center Hill Lake was included in June. June of 2021 had 26 permits for $3.8 million, with 16 being new homes.
