Baxter and Putnam County fire crews have extinguished a Ditty Road brush fire Tuesday afternoon.
Baxter Fire Chief Matthew White said crews responded to a property near the city limits at about 2:00 p.m.
“There was no structures that were involved,” White said. “The gentlemen who owns the property appeared to be where he had several vehicles stored outside, and when the grass fire spread, the fire spread also caught these vehicles on fire. I believe there’s a boat involved also.”
White said crews battled the fire for about an hour and a half. Two to three vehicles were lost. No injuries were reported. White said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
“It is extinguished, and all of the fire units have left,” White said. “The Department of Forestry is on the scene. They are going to put a control line around it to make sure it doesn’t extend.”
