Baxter Primary School set to get new playground equipment thanks to the help of the PTA.
Principal Marsha Wyatt said they helped to raise thousands of dollars to purchase new equipment for the Pre-K and Kindergarten playground.
“So we just thought that it was time to upgrade and get some more developmentally appropriate playground equipment,” Wyatt said. “Especially some of our kids with special needs, they’ll be able to play with it as well.”
Wyatt said this will help to replace old swings and merry-go-rounds that had overrun their use. She said it will be a single unit that will be suited for ages two to five.
Wyatt said the equipment will be delivered in January and hopefully installed right after that. She said that will hinge on the weather.
“That playground is a great place for students to develop,” Wyatt said. “It’s a great place for students tod develop social skills, learning how to share, to take turns. There is all kinds of things students can learn while playing on the playground and that new equipment.”
