Other than a few bumps, Tennessee Tech’s Provost said the first week of online classes has gone very well.
“It has been very, very smooth, remarkably smooth,” Dr. Lori Mann Bruce said.
Tech resumed classes Monday after a two-week spring break. Bruce said faculty responded to the changes by doing dry runs during the second week. But Bruce said the way students got prepared impressed her.
“A lot of students did a lot of stuff during that second week of spring break to prepare so that they were ready,” Bruce said. “Some of them had 100 percent participation from the students in the class.”
The early March scare with a possible COVID-19 case on campus, Bruce said, got Tech officials ahead of the curve in contemplating an online switch.
Bruce said she speaks nightly with the deans of the colleges as well as the Information Technology staff.
