Poplar Grove Primary Elections To Remain At Community Center

The Putnam County Election Commission did not find a new location for the Poplar Grove precinct.

That means the May primary will be held at the Poplar Grove Community Center. Chair Phil Adams said that they hope to find a new location for the August and November elections to avoid potential issues.

“I think we’re okay for this first election and we won’t have any,” Adams said. “But that now has quadrupled the number of voters or so than before. So another location (is needed). And parking is as much of a problem as anything, so let’s just not give up.”

The commission said earlier this year they had outgrown the Poplar Grove Community Center.

In discussing other possible locations, Administrator of Elections Michele Honeycutt said that they can have a location half of a mile away from the precinct without approval. She said any further would require approval from the state.
