Police Asking For Help On Potential Drowning Victim

Cumberland County’s Emergency Services came together to search for a potential drowning victim Monday.

Cumberland County EMA Director Travis Cole said 911 received a phone call around 6:00am on Monday reporting somebody face down in the water outside the caller’s window. Cole said the caller appeared “very intoxicated.” He would not share an address for the victim and hung up quickly.

“Due to the very vague phone call, a operation was initiated to, you know, where we sent police, fire, EMA, and rescue squad resources to check the bodies of water in and around the city limits of Crossville,” Cole said.

Cole said the call was made by a 911-only phone, meaning dispatchers could not call it back to try and get more information. He said nothing was found in the search.

“The call did not last long enough to be able to get a ping on the location,” Cole said. “Just a, it gave us a very generalized area that it was somewhere around the city limits of Crossville.”

Cole said if anyone has information on the matter they should contact the Crossville Police Department.

“The police department is still investigating, trying to locate the origin of the call, but as far as any more searches or anything like that there’s none,” Cole said.
