The Tennessee Valley Authority will disconnect power Saturday night for areas in Jackson and Putnam County to repair damage from storms.
Upper Cumberland Electric Membership Company General Manager Jimmy Gregory said 13 poles from Gaineseboro Grade up Highway 56 to their Gainesboro substation will be replaced. All the poles are located on rough terrain. So, the outage is expected to last around eight hours for Jackson residents.
“Our involvement will be very minimal,” Gregory said. “We will have a couple of our sub station technicians at Gainesboro, Ross and Rickman substations to ensure that nothing goes wrong.”
Putnam and Overton County will see a more brief outage on Saturday. Gregory said TVA will replace three conductor jumpers installed around Gainesboro Grade. The jumpers are 15 to 20 feet of conductive lines that connects an alternate source of power to the area. The jumpers were originally installed due to tornado damage in March.
The outage was originally planned for May 30th, but TVA postponed due to inclement weather.
“TVA is bringing a lot of outside crews from Knoxville, Crossville and Nashville,” Gregory said. “They were afraid if it rained with the rough terrain, it would be hazardous.”
The outage will begin at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, and will continue for up to eight (8) hours into Sunday morning, June 7 for the following Jackson communities: Gainesboro, Granville Highway, Gladdice Highway, York Highway, Celina Highway, Highway 56, Jennings Creek Highway, Indian Creek Road, Haydenburg Ridge, McCoinsville Road, Sugar Creek, Greenwood Ridge, Booger Ridge Lane, New Hope Road, Roaring River Road, Old Antioch Road and Seven Knobbs Road.
