Pickett and Van Buren Counties will be home to drive-thru COVID-19 testing sites this weekend.
The state will ramp up COVID-19 testing across the weekend in an effort to get more Tennesseans checked. A total of 33 testing sites will be open over the weekend to get anyone checked who wants to be tested.
In Van Buren County, testing will be conducted Saturday from 3-6pm at Burritt College, 455 College Street in Spencer. Sunday, testing will be conducted at B&K Grocery Parking Lot in Byrdstown from 1-4pm. The store is located at 8460 Highway 111.
Governor Bill Lee said the targeted testing efforts will continue in the subsequent two weekends. He said citizens need to now go beyond the common COVID-19 symptoms.
“If you do not feel well, get tested,” Lee said.
Anyone with health concerns is invited to visit the site this weekend. Test results take about 72 hours.
Nurses and National Guard medics will serve at sites across the state.
Van Buren County had its first positive test this week. Pickett County has yet to record a case. However, the two counties combined have had 87 people tested. Putnam County has tested 878 people.
